Have you ever heard of the wonders of Borgarfjörður? No, nobody has.  If you’re tired of being surrounded by other tourists and want something truly authentic, Borgarfjörður is the place to be.  Beautiful waterfalls, caves and wonderful valleys in the quiet nature.

PICK-UP Pick-up is at your hotel/accommodation in Reykjavík, or somewhere en route.

Itinerary for Borgarfjörður

Pick-up

Passengers get picked up in their accommodation in Reykjavík.

Þingvellir

Walk around the national park.  Þingvellir is interesting, both in a geographical and historical sense.  It used to host the oldest continuous parliament in the world, in addition to showing the rift between the North-American and Eurasian plateaus in a very spectacular way.

Kaldidalur route

This is the shortest of the highland tracks and the road is thus nicknamed “The Highland for Beginners”.  The route offers an amazing view over the glaciers and dunes.

Hallmundarhraun

Hallmundarhraun is a lava field formed in an eruption in the year 930.  We’ll visit a cave and take a look at some stalagmites and stalactites.

Lunch at Húsafell

Húsafell is a beautiful oasis between glaciers and mountains.  We’ll stop for a nice but a bit late lunch there.

Hraunfossar

Hraunfossar is a series of small waterfalls flowing through the lava in a most spectacular way.

Barnafoss

Barnafoss is a small waterfall that used to have a natural stone bridge, where two children are said to have drowned, years and years ago, hence the name; Children’s Waterfall.

Deildartunguhver

Deildartunguhver is a hot spring, with the highest hot-water flow in Europe.

Head home

We’ll drive through the beautiful landscape of Borgarfjörður, along Lake Skorradalsvatn, across Dragháls ridge and through Hvalfjörður Fjord.

Return to Reykjavík

After a day packed with wonders we’ll head back to your accommodation inReykjavík.

Klem, What a fantastic night we had searching for the Northern lights last xmas. Frank & I snuggled up in the back of your super jeap and had the best laugh going off road. Finally getting to see the lights was amazing even tho they were not very strong that night ( just another reason to come back and visit again 😉) thank you so much for that hot chocolate which warmed us up as that was one very cold night See you again soon hopefully Theresa x
